Job summary

The post holder supports the achievement of the services performance indicators which includes timely delivery and collection of bed inventory to the wards. Key Accountabilities Respond to tickets immediately and the latest within 4 hours. You will ensure the store rooms across the hospital have the required buffer stock for specialist mattresses. A customer focused service at all times.

Main duties of the job

To provide effective and efficient delivery and installation of clean ready to use products to clinical areas in the right location, within the agreed timescales. To collect faulty, failing and dirty products from the clinical areas and ensure they are sent for decontamination and repaired within the agreed timescales. To respond to breakdowns and exchange faulty products where required and complete all necessary documentation. Management, organisation and maintenance of the bed stores and workshops ensuring effective and efficient utilisation of space. Check all equipment is in good working order and safe to use. To undertake statutory PAT testing of beds and associated electrical equipment. To work effectively and communicate with the clinical staff and the members of the multidisciplinary team. To undertake training courses to ensure appropriate competency levels. To assist in compiling and maintenance of bed and associated inventory register. Work with Portering (Medirest & UHE/ISS) on each site to ensure all bed frames and foam mattresses are delivered or collected in a timely manner. Attend mandatory training in a timely manner. To undertake relevant training to carry out job role and comply with relevant legislation. Confidentiality at all times, only releasing confidential information obtained during the course of employment to those acting in an official capacity. To understand and ensure compliance with all Health and Safety matters. To attend training sessions where applicable in the use of all safety PPE and to follow all safety procedures.

The Bed and Equipment Services team are responsible for ensuring the beds and associate equipment is well maintained, repaired in a prompt manner and is available for clinical staff when required. The Technician Assistant is responsible for the delivery and collection of specialist bed equipment to between the bed stores and the wards when a request has been made.The role will work 37.5 hours over a seven day period across all Trust sites.

Skills:

Ability to provide great customer service to key stakeholders

Ability to multitask and prioritise requests coming in from a variety of stakeholders

Ability to understand when escalation to resolve an issue is appropriate

Computer literate and able to use Microsoft Office packages including;- Excel- Databases- Online ordering portals

Qualifications:

A good standard of general education, including being numerically competent A-C GCSE Maths & English (or equivalent)
