Job summary
Your role as an Anaesthetic Nurse/ODP with Cath lab experience is to provides expert peri operative anaesthetic care for adult patients undergoing interventional cardiology and radiology procedures in the Angiography Catheterisation Laboratory
You will be responsible for providing skilled clinical and technical assistance as a member of the Angiography team and to participate in the assessment of patient care needs and implement and maintain agreed standards of care.
This position is central to maintaining 24/7 Cath Lab anaesthetic cover and upholding Bupas values of patient-centred, high-quality care
Main duties of the job
Deliver skilled assistance to the Anaesthetist during induction, maintenance and emergence from anaesthesia, maintaining continuous patient monitoring
The post holder ensures all equipment, drugs and documentation are prepared to the highest standards, enabling efficient case flow and exceptional patient experience
Prepare, check and operate anaesthetic machines, airway devices, patient monitors and ventilators, rectifying or escalating faults immediately.
Manage, draw-up and administer anaesthetic, sedation, and emergency drugs (including controlled drugs) in accordance with policy.
Support patient assessment, transfer, positioning, and reassurance before, during and after procedures, advocating for dignity and comfort.
Adhere strictly to infection prevention, radiation, and health-and-safety protocols, promoting a safe Cath Lab environment.
Accurately document all peri-operative care, drug administration, variances and incidents in line with legal, professional, and organisational requirements.
Participate in emergency response and resuscitation, providing advanced airway management and life-support interventions
Contribute to service efficiency by anticipating list requirements, facilitating rapid case turnover and working flexible shifts/on-call rota. Engage in audit, education, simulation and quality-improvement initiatives, keeping knowledge current and supporting colleagues development.

Current UK registration as a Registered Operating Department Practitioner (HCPC) or Registered Nurse (NMC) with recognised anaesthetic qualification.
Diploma of Higher Education / BSc in Operating Department Practice or Nursing
5 years post-qualification anaesthetic experience, including significant exposure in Cardiac Catheterisation and/or Interventional Radiology suites.
Proven competence in airway management, invasive monitoring, defibrillation, and conscious-sedation techniques.
Effective multidisciplinary communication, organisational and critical-thinking skills.
Ability to work flexible early, late, and long-day shifts and participate in a 24/7 on-call rota
