We have an opportunity for a Theatre Practitioner to join their team of staff in the Theatre department.
Main duties of the job
Duties of this role include:
- Assist the surgical team by preparing instruments, maintaining sterility, anticipating surgeon needs, and ensuring equipment safety; support the Anaesthetist in equipment preparation, patient monitoring, airway management, and positioning; and provide post-operative care, monitoring vital signs, managing pain and nausea, and ensuring patient readiness for discharge.
- Adhere to infection prevention and control policies and procedures at all times.
- Set up operating theatres according to surgery type and specific patient requirements.
- Check all surgical and anaesthetic equipment prior to use and report faults immediately.
- Work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team to achieve safe and efficient surgical lists
- Support and contribute to a positive, respectful, and efficient theatre environment.

- Lead the delivery of high-quality, patient-centred care across the perioperative pathway, acting as a specialist or functional lead within the team.
- Ensure that all patient safety checks, including WHO surgical safety processes, are carried out in accordance with hospital policy.
- Provide day-to-day leadership and supervision for theatre practitioners and support staff, fostering a culture of professionalism, compassion, and accountability.
- Support the development and assessment of competencies within the team, promoting continuous professional development.
- Act as an advocate for patients, ensuring their rights, safety, and dignity are upheld at all times.
- Raise concerns where standards of care or safeguarding protocols are not met, in line with Circle Health Group policy.

- NMC or HCPC registered practitioner with significant experience in a theatre environment
- Demonstrated clinical leadership experience and ability to act as a role model to peers.
- Strong understanding of patient safety protocols, safeguarding, infection control, and clinical governance.
- ENB 998 and/or mentorship course.
- Approved / recognised anaesthetic course.
- Must have experience in Endoscopy and JAG.
