We have an opportunity for a Clinical specialist Hand therapy to join their team of staff in the Physiotherapy department.
Main duties of the job
- Provide specialist assessment and treatment (hand therapy) for outpatients, inpatients, pre-admission and follow-up care as appropriate. Depending on training, this might include hand and wrist only, hand, wrist and elbow or whole upper limb. For the purposes of this role description, hand and wrist will be used.
- Effectively manage an Outpatient caseload, working within your scope of practice as an autonomous practitioner.
- Make an active contribution to the marketing, promotion and development of the Hand Therapy service within the hospital, working closely with the marketing team, consultants and GP referrers.
- To ensure compliance with appropriate regulatory and best practice frameworks.
- To take an active role in supporting the implementation of national developments locally.
- To ensure the department maintains CHG Physiotherapy accreditation.

We are a busy Therapy department
looking for an experienced Occupational therapist or Physiotherapist to work in
our outpatient department. This job would be ideal for
someone who has established clinical skills and knowledge in assessing and
treating a range of upper limb conditions, post-operative rehabilitation and
who is confident in splinting. You need to have good time management skills and
be able to manage a clinical caseload effectively and independently. Senior Therapists will also be considered for
this role.
We are a dynamic and forward-thinking hospital treating
patients referred by consultants and GPs and self-referrals.
We have specialist Physiotherapists
offering treatments in hand therapy, paediatrics, pelvic health, gait analysis,
neurology and vestibular. Our current hand therapy team would be able to
support your role and work alongside you.

WHAT DO YOU HAVE?
- Chartered Physiotherapist/State Registered Occupational Therapist with extensive postgraduate hand therapy experience with a proven track record of clinical expertise within this specialist area. This experience must include orthopaedics, plastics, rheumatology, trauma, management of acquired conditions and skills in appropriate manual therapies, splinting, hand and wrist assessment and evidence based treatment techniques.
- Member of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy (CSP)/Royal College of Occupational Therapists (RCOT).
- Registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).
- Knowledge of CSP/RCOT and HCPC Codes and guidelines and their implications for practice.
- Knowledge of the Care Standards Act and Care and Quality Commission Requirements.
- Strong organisational and planning skills, including risk management.
- Advanced training/recognised qualifications in specialist area. For example, BAH
