Job summary

We are seeking Healthcare Assistants to join our friendly and supportive team in the Urgent Treatment Centre in Banbury, Oxfordshire.

The service operates 365 days per-year, with opening hours from 9am-9pm.

Commissioned to provide Urgent Care to the population of North Oxfordshire, the Urgent Treatment Centre provides a busy and dynamic workplace, providing a point of access to patients with urgent medical needs from both the Emergency Department and GP Practices/111.

Within the role, there will be a combination of clinical and admin/clerical work, allowing for diversity in workload to the successful applicant. With a growing team, we are looking for enthusiastic individuals with the drive to provide great care to the patients who require our service.

Main duties of the job

The purpose of the role is to:

  • Work as a member of the Urgent Treatment Centre multi-disciplinary team, ensuring effective communication methods are maintained across the service.
  • Maintain high standards of patient care throughout the patient journey.
  • Provide clinical assessments of patients attending the Urgent Treatment Centre within 15 minutes of their arrival to the unit.
  • Utilise IT systems within the Urgent Treatment Centre to register patients, as well as completing accurate triage notes to assist in the treatment of the patient.
  • Complete and assist in role-defined examinations including urinalysis, electrocardiograms, chaperoning.
  • Recognise and escalate the deteriorating patient to the senior clinician in line with policy, supporting in stabilisation and repatriation of those requiring acute onward referral.
  • Ensure the Infection Prevention & Control requirements of the unit are upheld.
  • Completion and maintenance of all Statutory & Mandatory training in line with local and company-wide requirements.
  • Recognise and report procedural, clinical or safety issues through PML systems as appropriate.
