Job summary

We are seeking Healthcare Assistants to work within the Urgent Care Centre at the Fiennes Unit, Horton General Hospital, Banbury. We provide on the day assessments following referral to patients who require a diagnosis or treatment for a new condition The healthcare assistant role mixes working clinically, completing clinical observations and assessments along with administration duties such as reception cover, registering patients attendance and capturing any feedback. This is a diverse working directly with GP to provide urgent care for all patients age groups.

  • We require clinical staff to be part of a multi-disciplinary providing clinical observations for every patient attending the centre
  • The service operates 7 days a week, 9am-11pm and staff are required to work across the opening hours.
  • Ideally, you will have some experience in delivering health care. You will have an opportunity to work flexibly to fit in with personal circumstances.

Main duties of the job

The purpose of the role is to:

  • Provide clinical assessments of patients attending the UCC within 15 minutes of their arrival to the unit.
  • Register patients as attending the unit using the IT systems in place.
  • Provide support to the GPs.
  • Work with the registered clinicians to complete tasks and provide care.
  • Supported by the clinical team and appropriate training you will deliver care within the boundaries of your role, focusing on supporting patients to be healthy, in the monitoring of long term condition, and health prevention and screening activities.

  • Undertake routine tasks related to individuals health and wellbeing, including completion of clinical observations and escalation of findings as necessary.
