Job Title: Band 6 (Charge Nurse)
Position: Permanent
Hours per week: 37.5 p/w
Salary Range: £40,281 - £53,127 (dependent on experience)
We are seeking for a Band 6 Charge Nurse with experience in long-term in mechanical ventilation (invasive or Non-invasive), shifts management with evidence of ongoing professional development, to join our Specialist Ventilation Service, based across our two purpose-built units, the Jack Emerson Centre and Leonora Ward, each with 16 beds. The service provides specialist care for patients with complex Neuro-disability who require long-term invasive mechanical ventilation via tracheostomy. As Charge Nurse, you will work as part of the multidisciplinary team to deliver high-quality, evidence-based care while providing clinical leadership and supporting the Ward Manager in the day-to-day running of the ward. You will guide and support nursing and healthcare assistant staff, ensuring safe, compassionate and professional care for our patients. You will provide support for and deputise in the absence of the Ward Manager.
We are committed to supporting our staff with specialist training and personal development. A comprehensive induction programme is provided along with supervision and ongoing support from our dedicate clinical education team to help you develop your knowledge and skills.
Main duties of the job
1. Demonstrate an awareness of RHNs
objectives and contribute to achieving them appropriately.
2. Strive to improve and offer excellent
standards of safe, clinical care.
3. To actively contribute to creating a
culture where quality is at the centre of everything we do and is delivered on
all occasions to the highest level, in accordance with the appropriate CQC
regulations and professional standards including the Nursing and Midwifery
Council Code.
4. To deliver a high standard of care to
the patient and residents of the hospital.
5. To assess patients care needs and to
develop, implement and evaluate programmes of care.
6. Participate in managing nurses and
nursing services.
7. To provide support to the Ward Sister
and Matron for the service.

The ventilation service provides care and support for patients complex respiratory illness requiring invasive or non-invasive mechanical ventilation support. Patients are cared for within a specialist environment by a large and experienced nursing team working closely alongside the multidisciplinary team and medical staff to deliver high quality, evidence-based care. The service also supported by the two long term ventilation service from Guys and St. Thomass NHS Foundation Trust and Royal Brompton NHS Foundation Trust.
