An very exciting opportunity has arisen for two part time Technology Support Workers (Band 4) to join our specialised Compass Team in the Assistive & Rehabilitation Technology Service at the RHN . Compass is a multi-disciplinary service focused on providing electronic assistive and rehabilitation technology solutions to profoundly disabled individuals both within the RHN and in the community.

The role of the Technology Support Worker is to provide support both to the Compass team and to the users of our assistive technology within the RHN. There are two roles available one technical position and one clinical position please see the attached Job Descriptions for each role;

  • The role of the Technology Support Worker (Technical) is to provide technical support both to the Compass team and to the users of assistive technology on the Compass caseload, as well as managing equipment maintenance and setup for the team.

  • The role of the Technology Support Worker (Clinical) is to provide clinical support in the use of technology to clients with complex disabilities under the supervision of the Compass clinicians and clinical technologists.

Main duties of the job

  • To lead on the monitoring and maintenance of all electronic assistive technology equipment and software and be responsible for identifying required resources and equipment through agreed procedures in collaboration with the Clinical Technologists.
  • To support the Clinical Technologists in implementing maintenance programmes and the documentation associated with this.
  • To set up specialist assistive technology equipment and software for RHN and external clients and assist MDT professionals to implement usage and assist with ongoing customisation and support, including remote support and mounting.
  • To undertake service audits and data management activities. To be involved in developing the Compass service by attending meetings and contributing to action plans.
  • To speak to organised visitors, contribute to external courses, internal training and RHN open days.
  • To work with clinical keyworkers to help assistive technology users develop their skills and better utilise their equipment and software through face to face and remote sessions.
  • To customise and adapt assistive technology as required by the user and their support network, in liaison with the clinical keyworker.
  • To undertake service audits and data management activities.
