Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated physiotherapist with proven clinical interest and skills in neurological rehabilitation and complex disability management to join the Band 6 rotational physiotherapy scheme at the RHN. The RHN provides specialised care for patients with a range of neurological conditions and complex disabilities. Rotational opportunities span across our Level1a Neurorehabilitation, Specialist Nursing Home, Long term ventilation services and Neuro Behavioural unit.
The post holder will work within specialist interdisciplinary teams and have an opportunity to gain excellent knowledge and skills in:
- Complex 24 hour postural management
- Tone assessment and management- including splinting, serial casting, use of Botox.
- Respiratory management including long term ventilation, tracheostomy care and weaning.
- Complex Neurorehabilitation
- Leadership and supervision.
- Service development and research.
This post is rotational, encompassing the Brain Injury Service Level 1a Neurorehabilitation, specialist nursing home, long-term ventilator unit and Neuro-behavioural services. The post holder will work as part of an interdisciplinary team, as well as working alongside other physiotherapists and support staff. The postholder will be accountable to the Lead Physiotherapist in their servicearea.
Main duties of the job
- To provide specialist patient-centred assessment and treatment for a complex neurological clinical caseload as part of a specialist interdisciplinary team.
- To demonstrate awareness of the RHNs values and contribute to achieving them appropriately.
- To strive to improve efficiency in all areas of your work including in leadership and supervisory capacities.
- To ensure professionalism and excellent communication with staff, patient, relatives and external agencies.
