Job description

Job responsibilities

We are looking for a proactive and compassionate Deputy SARC Manager to play a pivotal role in leading our multi-agency service.

You'll support the SARC Manager in ensuring smooth day to day operations, high quality care, and strategic development of the service.

From managing people and budgets to fostering strong partnerships and ensuring clinical excellence, you'll be a driving force in delivering positive outcomes for our clients.

This is an opportunity to join a supportive, values driven organisation where your leadership will directly shape the quality of care and support for those who need it most.

In this varied and impactful role, you will:

  • Coordinate all activities that keep the SARC running smoothly, ensuring safe and effective services in line with national and local standards for rape and sexual assault care.
  • Support the SARC Manager in leading and developing a multi-disciplinary team overseeing recruitment, inductions, training, rotas, appraisals, and wellbeing support.
  • Monitor service delivery, assess performance, and implement changes to improve access, patient experience, and clinical quality while maintaining budgetary control.
  • Act as a Crisis Worker or Forensic Examiner (following training and dependent on qualification) providing direct support to patients, conducting forensic examinations, and ensuring thorough documentation, follow-ups, and case reviews.
  • Maintain the highest standards of safeguarding by ensuring policies are followed, audits are completed, and staff are supported in recognising and responding to concerns.
  • Oversee governance and compliance, including incident reporting, complaints management, quality audits, and adherence to ISO 15189 and Forensic Science Regulator standards.
  • Ensure medicines, forensic equipment, and medical rooms are maintained, stocked, and compliant at all times.
  • Build and maintain positive relationships with commissioners, police, partner agencies, and community organisations to improve referral pathways and raise awareness of SARC services.
  • Lead local operational meetings, contribute to service development plans, and share best practice with other SARCs across Mountain Healthcare.
  • Manage and safeguard confidential information, forensic samples, and records in line with legal and professional standards.
  • Support business planning, outreach initiatives, and research or quality improvement projects to ensure the service remains responsive and effective.
  • At Mountain Healthcare, we understand that to provide the highest quality services for our patients and customers, our people must be the best in the field. We are proud to offer unrivalled staff training and development opportunities such as our unique Forensic Practitioner Gateway, our wide range of accredited and Continuing Professional Development (CPD) courses, and access to events across the health and justice sector.

DE&I Mountain Healthcare aims to create and encourage an environment that is committed to promoting equality, diversity, working inclusively, and valuing the differences that individuals can bring to the workplace.

We uphold these principles in our organisational values and behaviours towards each other and our patients. We welcome applications irrespective of age, disability, sex, gender identity and gender expression, race or ethnicity, religion or belief, sexuality, or other personal circumstances.
