Main duties of the job

Each county has its own dedicated Sexual Assault Referral Centre (SARC), the service has been commissioned to improve the immediate medical response and aftercare offered to victims of sexual assault and rape.

Mountain Healthcare are a specialist business already providing similar services to 20 other SARCs in locations across the UK.

This post will be based at Upton Hospital, Church Street, Slough, with additional locations at Bicester SARC.

We are looking for passionate individuals who will drive national awareness of the services which are available at the SARC, to support male victims, in order to increase user engagement. In addition to outreach work, the Outreach Crisis Worker will provide front-line advocacy support for service users and be the main point of contact for all SARC activities.

This is a full-time vacancy of 40 hours per week, Monday - Friday (9:00am -5:00pm) with occasional evening and weekends

Job responsibilities

This Outreach Crisis Worker role is critical in providing victims of sexual assault with the dedicated support and care required.

Acting as the advocate for patients who attend the centre, you will empower them to feel in control and where applicable, support them during the forensic examination process.

Mountain Healthcare are a specialist business already providing similar services to 20 other SARCs in locations across the UK.

This Outreach Crisis Worker role will include:

  • proactively engaging relevant stakeholders and partners to maintain good communication, identify gaps in service, and develop new pathways
  • promoting the services available at the SARC to support male survivors through presentations, meetings, and participation with activities arranged with the wider communications team
  • providing on-call support as a dedicated crisis worker to support male service users (through Police or self-referral processes)
  • providing telephone support, administration, and management of the services at the SARC (for male clients)
  • taking an active role and providing assistance with the collection of forensic evidence and examinations, including the use of the colposcope, medical care, and providing advocacy support
