Job summary
SARC National Paediatric Clinical Director
(Maternity cover up to 18 months)
Base Location: Head Office in Stevenage but the role is mostly remote for management except when required on site and on-call for SARC services.
This role predominantly covers both paediatric and adult services.
Salary:£95,478-99,754 (pro rata)
Part Time, 24 hour per week
Rota: 9am 5pm Monday Friday (exact days to be discussed but flexible)
Main duties of the job
Key Leadership Responsibilities:
- The Clinical Director (CD) will act as clinical mentor for Senior Medical Leads
in the organisation.
- The CD will deputise for the Medical Director as appropriate
- The CD will liaise with all appropriate external stakeholders as necessary and
represent Mountain Healthcare at local and national meetings, where relevant.
- The CD will be level 3 safeguarding trained and be able to undertake incident
investigative analysis, desk top reviews and contribute to reports.
In addition:
- Responsible for recruitment and onboarding of new doctors into SARC.
- Responsible for rota management in collaboration with the rota managers
including signing off expenses, approving shifts and overtime and authorising
annual leave
Performance management:
- The CD will support the governance activities, aligned with CQC compliance,
Forensic Science Regulations and other national standards.
- The CD will be required to undertake in clinical audit
Education and training:
- The post holder will be expected to support training and other continuing
medical educational activity .
- This will include peer review, supervision,
teaching, shadowing examinations and signing competencies of clinical staff.

Mountain Healthcare provides services commissioned by the Police and NHS Health & Justice Commissioners to provide an effective forensic healthcare service. The National Clinical Director will work with the Medical Director, Associate Medical Directors, Clinical Director for Custody, Directors of Nursing, Associate Head of Healthcare, safeguarding team, SARC Managers and paediatric teams to deliver a high-quality service nationally and use their expertise for complex case management.
In addition, the role can include working in national SARCs and undertaking face to face assessments to make the role full time.

In addition, the role will include working within the Paediatric SARC services undertaking paediatric child sexual abuse assessments. In addition, the Clinical Director will also be expected to support with clinical decisions and safeguarding and advise on quality improvement initiatives for children and young people attending MH custodial healthcare services.
