Job summary

Alliance Psychological Services is an independent provider of counselling and psychological therapy services based in the Tees Valley area and working across the North-East region. We are working in partnership with Teesside Mind to deliver the IMPACT on Teesside service.

We have an exciting new opportunity to be part of this innovative service as an Employment Advisor. Successful candidate will have experience working in a mental healthcare setting, providing advice and guidance around employment. This includes how to retain employment, supporting individuals returning to work after a period of sickness absence, and guiding those looking to change their career to a more suitable role. You will work directly with external organisation such as Job Centre Plus, employers and employment agencies, to help keep people in employment and secure future employment opportunities.

Main duties of the job

We are looking for somebody with a sound understanding of employment needs, barriers and difficulties faced by people with Mental Health conditions. The successful candidate should have excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, alongside competent IT skills, and the ability to collate and analyse data. You can work both independently and with initiative and should have experience dealing with vulnerable people and those with disabilities. It is important that the successful candidate understands how to approach conversations with sensitivity and care.

Full time position is available. You must have full right to work in the UK as we are currently unable to offer working visa opportunities.

Successful candidates will be employed by Teesside Mind within the IMPACT on Teesside partnership.

The Post Holder will work within the Impact on Teesside Primary Care Psychological Wellbeing Therapies (PWT) service to offer employment advice and support to people using the service. They will contribute to active waiting list management in collaboration with other members of the team and will assist in offering advice around retaining employment, changing employment, and returning to employment after a long period of sickness absence.

This position may require flexible hours between 8am until 8pm weekdays.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

To work as a member of the Impact PWT Service Team

  • To create and maintain effective working relationships within the team and elsewhere.
  • To provide support to clients during treatment including maintaining regular contact and providing information and guidance around employment needs.
  • To manage a caseload of clients who are experiencing mental health difficulties and to support them to remain, return or find new employment.
  • The ability to work remotely within the community such as Community centres, Job centres and community venues across Teesside.
  • To offer advice and support to other members of the wider primary care team.
  • To liaise effectively with a range of stakeholders such as statutory and voluntary sector organisations and services
  • To attend meetings and provide reports as required
  • To assist in the development and promotion of the service

To provide holistic and skills-based interventions and practical support

  • To offer a range of resources, signposting, and information
  • To use tools and measures to support the clients care and outcomes
  • To work within an appropriate time framework
  • To make appropriate onward referrals following assessment for clients requiring other services, including statutory and voluntary agencies
