Specialist Bariatric Nurse
Practitioner Full or Part Time
Were recruiting a motivated nurse to the role of
Specialist Bariatric Practitioner (band 6-7).
Some experience in bariatric surgical care and/or
medical weight management services is essential, but we can provide supervised training
(including extended clinical roles) for the individuals with a strong work
ethic and outstanding interpersonal and team skills. The salary range reflects
our willingness to consider both highly skilled and less experienced
candidates.
Main duties of the job
Clinical
work includes:
Independent pre and post-operative
assessment and management of private and NHS patients
Telephone patient support including
participation in rota covering out of hours telephone helpline
Strict adherence to Phoenix clinical
procedures and protocols
Liaison with nursing and other
professionals within Phoenix Health and at partner hospitals
Attendance at MDT meetings as required
Data collection, audit and analysis to
ensure patient outcomes are captured and utilised to promote and improve the
service offered and comply with contractual commitments
Data entry onto National Bariatric
Surgery Registry
1.To coordinate individual patient care
by providing the link between various healthcare professionals ensuring a
smooth pathway through the specialist obesity service.
2.To assess, interpret
and monitor blood results of post-operative bariatric surgery patients.
4. To provide expert advice to GPs regarding
the follow up care and treatment of obesity patients, based upon clinical evidence.
5.To undertake an extended role by performing gastric band adjustments after
completion of the training programme.
6.To ensure safe and
timely discharge of patients by providing relevant information to key
professionals and agencies and by following relevant procedures.

Founded in 2012, this close-knit team of over 25 employees work
with our bariatric surgical team to deliver the highest standards of surgical treatment
and post-operative aftercare for both NHS and private patients.
We hold a long-term NHS contract with the Integrated Health Boards
covering Merseyside, Wirral, Cheshire, Cumbria, Lancashire. Our core service (private and NHS) is
delivered from both NHS and independent sector clinical facilities in Chester
and Manchester, with additional private services delivered at other sites throughout
the UK. The base for this post is located
within modern offices close to the M56 just outside Chester.
