Salford Primary Care Togetheris a community interest company that runs 3 GP surgeries as well as all out of hours GP services in the region.
We seek to recruit an additional Receptionists to work in our busy GP surgery inLittle Hulton Health Centre.We have 1 x Full Time role available - our Practice is open from 8am - 6.30pm Monday-Friday. Working pattern will be discussed at interview.
The role is fast paced and varied - you will offer assistance to the practice team and project a positive and friendly image to patients and other visitors, either in person or via the telephone.To receive, assist and direct patients in accessing the appropriate service or healthcare professional in a courteous, efficient and effective way.
Undertake administrative duties to assist in the smooth running of the practice.To facilitate effective communication between patients, members of the primary health care team, secondary care and other associated healthcare agencies.
Ideal applicant ideally will have a background within reception or clerical work - coupled with excellent communication skills. You will be computer literate and a real multi-tasker who is able to work unsupervised.
The work can be fast paced and occasionally can be stressful and on occasion you may have to deal with emergency situations so you need to have a cool, calm, collected manner.
Excellent customer services skills are an absolute must and a genuine commitment to making a real difference to patient centered care
Main duties of the job
The role is within the Phone Team and Front of House for our Little Hulton Practice.
To be the first point of contact for the patients, members the primary healthcare team, secondary care and other associated healthcare agencies.
Ensuring excellent customer service at all times, supporting the patients to access appropriate and effective care to suit their need.
The role involves working on the reception desk, meeting and greeting the patients, welcoming the patients and visitors to the practice whether this is an appointment or general query.

Job responsibilities
- To receive patients at the surgery in a friendly manner, efficiently checking-in those with booked appointments.
- To receive and make telephone calls, using a helpful and problem-solving approach.
- To maintain good housekeeping of the admin and reception areas as well as maintain the security of the building by ensuring visitors are signed in/out. Report any issues that will affect the smooth running of the practice to your line manager.
- To monitor flow of patients and inform patients and staff of any delays or possible problems. To ensure that patients with an urgent medical need are brought to the attention of the clinical staff and are dealt with in a logical and non-disruptive manner.
- To explain practice arrangements and formal requirements to existing and new patients and those seeking temporary registration and ensure that the necessary registration procedures are completed in a timely manner.
- Undertake a variety of administrative duties to assist in the smooth running of the Practice including the provision of administrative and clerical support to clinical staff and other members of the Practice team.
- To gain competency, as directed, in the use of IT applications in support of your role; including, but restricted to: EMIS, DocMan, X-On (Surgery Connect), AccuRx and Bright HR.
- To book appointments and recalls, ensuring sufficient information is recorded to enable clinical staff to access the patients record and to prioritise their workload.
- To process prescription requests as directed.
- Facilitate effective communication between patients, members the primary healthcare team, secondary care and other associated healthcare agencies.
- Scanning correspondence on to patients records as required.
- Liaising with the hospitals and secondary care about patient appointments and test result queries.
- Dealing with queries raised by Clinicians, The Management team and Patients.
- Processing requests from patients and others regarding medical records and medical information including ensuring appropriate consent is in place and payment is received in line with SPCT procedures.
- Managing stock levels and ordering of all secretarial and practice stationery.
- To attend and minute meetings as requested.
- To carry out any other duties as have reasonably been requested by the Practice Manager and not to unreasonably withhold agreement.
