Job summary
The post holder will be expected to produce a high standard of professional radiographic practice at all times, maintaining a level of professional accountability in accordance with the SOR / COR statements of professional conduct, whilst undertaking all radiographic duties performed within the scope of practice of the appointed role.
Main duties of the job
Applicants with strong General Radiography / Plain Film experience are essential for the post, although knowledge of other modalities may be beneficial. There will be some aspects of Theatre working and chaperoning with the role.
This position requires a hands-on approach to work and is responsible for ensuring an effective, patient centred clinical administration team. They should be able to work both autonomously and as part of a multi-disciplinary team, managing examination workload effectively and producing a consistently high quality and safe level of care for all patients and undertake clinical work within established quality standards of practice, adhering to the Ionising Radiation and Medical Exposure Regulations and Ionising Radiation Regulations.

- Work both autonomously and as part of a multi-disciplinary team, managing examination workload effectively and producing a consistently high quality and safe level of care for all patients.
- Undertake clinical work within established quality standards of practice, adhering to the Ionising Radiation and Medical Exposure Regulations 2000 (IRMER 2000) and Ionising Radiation Regulations 1999 (IRR 1999). They must demonstrate a clear understanding of safe radiation practice, use of local rules and Quality Assurance programmes for diagnostic equipment.
- Clinically justify x-ray referrals using referral acceptance criteria defined within the Claremont Hospital referral and scanning protocols and also validate reports that have been produced.
- Undertake a broad range of radiographic techniques and be flexible in adapting to the requirements of all patients and examination scenarios.
- Communicate appropriately with patients, relatives and other members of staff both internally and externally, maintaining patient confidentiality at all times.
- Demonstrate a high level of respect to all patients ensuring privacy and dignity are maintained at all times, offering reassurance and confidence in the quality of the service provided within Claremont Hospital.
- Ensure patient identification is checked prior to commencement of the examination confirming that patient demographical data provided is accurate and entered correctly on all radiology IT systems.
