Job summary
Spire Claremont
Hospital runs a busy Operating Department that requires well motivated and
effective leadership at every level. The Deputy Theatre Manager will deputise
for the Theatre Manager and support in the provision of appropriate clinical
and managerial leadership throughout the department. Maximising theatre
utilisation, consultant compliance and maintaining clinical standards the post
holder will provide strong leadership and direction to all staff across the
service and act as a point of contact for advice and expertise relating to
professional issues. This is a demanding
job with high levels of delegated authority and offers the opportunity to take
decisions and make a difference in line with the Spire Healthcare Values and

Main duties of the job
Monitor
and assist in the delivery of patient care.
Respect
the patients dignity, privacy, wishes and beliefs.
Provide
appropriate clinical and managerial leadership throughout the department.
Act
as a role model and mentor to clinical staff providing advice and support to
others to promote good practice consistent with legislation and Spire
healthcare policies.
Ensure
compliance and challenge poor performance/behaviours.
Encourage,
develop and enhance the skills and knowledge of others and self.
Identify,
develop and support opportunities for improvements with departmental practices
as highlighted through evidence, research based practice and National standards.
Delegate
appropriate activities to other staff and ensure objectives are met. Manage
where required.
To
ensure that Clinical Governance, Risk Management and Surgical safety are
embedded within daily practice.

- Management, motivation and development of teams in particular a track record of successfully applying performance management
- Evidence of management of change and supporting strategic management initiatives.
- Supporting the commercial development of clinical services including supporting the creation of new business and innovative opportunities.
- Experience of consultant engagement to increase business performance, plus the ability to challenge consultants to influence best practice
- Positive working relationship with regulators.
- Dealing with serious adverse events.
- Evidence of developing standards of nursing care through clinical benchmarking
- Evidence of application of current nursing issues and developments
- Evidence of staff development, including pre and post registration students
