Job summary

CBC Workforce Solutions are looking for sessional Healthcare Assistants to join their Flexible Workforce Hub. The Flexible Workforce Hub provides short-term, planned and unplanned workforce support to our GP practices throughout Gateshead.

We are a not-for-profit company with a wide and diverse portfolio of services that we deliver as an NHS provider.

We are looking for friendly, professional and skilled Healthcare Assistants, who have relevant experience within in a GP setting. As a Healthcare Assistant, you will work on a sessional basis, during practice opening hours undertaking tasks as required by the practice such as health checks, phlebotomy, vaccinations, ECGs and undergoing long-term condition reviews with patients. Working knowledge of EMIS is essential.

Main duties of the job

Undertake, record and follow guidelines for tasks and procedures for which you have received appropriate training:

ECG recording

Phlebotomy

Long term condition reviews

Blood pressure

Vaccinations

Aural care

Diabetic foot checks

Pulse rate and rhythm

Tympanic thermometer use/temperature recording

Height, weight and BMI

Chaperoning duties as needed (on completion of training)

NHS health checks

Dealing with blood and body fluid spillages

Processing lab samples

Restocking consultation rooms and sterilising equipment

Assist GP with specialist clinics such as implants, coils and minor surgery

Handle sensitive and confidential information

Use of clinical IT systems, and maintaining accurate patient records

Recognise and report issues relating to safeguarding vulnerable children and adults
