Speech and Language Therapist

Job summary

We are looking for a Speech and Language Therapist. The post is based at Beechwood College which offers education and residential packages to young adults with additional needs/Autism.

We are happy to discuss flexibility in working hours and any aspect of the role at Beechwood College.

Main duties of the job

• To provide assessments, diagnostic and appropriate advice for all students
• To help plan and monitor individual and group treatment as appropriate.
• To be part of Beechwood multi-disciplinary team, liaising, co-ordinating and planning work with other professionals in homes.
• To encourage good liaison with other agencies promoting positive good practice.
• To contribute advice to families as necessary.
• To provide modelling, advice and support to staff.
• To attend MDTs, staff meetings, CPDs and in-service training as required.
• To follow current administrative and statistical procedures as required by audit.
• To keep clinical notes as per professional guidance and standards and to present information to MDTs.
• To keep up to date with new techniques and research for the maintenance and promotion of good practice and to record same on the CPD Log of the Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists.
• To be aware and follow NICE guidelines.
• To be conversant with communicating quality guidelines and ensure agreed care standards are adhered to.

About us

There is a well established SALT service at Beechwood who work closely with Psychology, Occupational Therapy and other specialists to provide appropriate interventions. Knowledge of AAC and communication systems is important along with positive behaviour approach.
