Job summary

Iris care group are seeking a part time Physiotherapist (20 hours) to cover our services in Mental Health and Learning Disabilities/ autism. This is a peripatetic role and travel to our services is essential.

The physiotherapist takes referrals from the Hospitals and College and manages a small caseload including gym inductions at the gym within our secure service in Pontypridd.

The hospitals and College are based in Cardiff and Pontypridd . The places of work all have robust MDTS on site and physiotherapy input is a well-established service within the organisation.

Main duties of the job

  • Provide specialist assessment and treatment to clients.
  • To act as a specialist resource on the physiotherapy management of individuals taking the lead with multi-disciplinary team to provide advice on the physiotherapy care of the individual.
  • To provide clinical supervision and act as a source of specialist advice for junior physiotherapists if requested
  • To provide a written report for CPAs formal reviews and attend M.D team meetings if available.
  • Manage a referral-based caseload with clear goals that is reported in a timely manner.

  • To be responsible for own practice and accountable for all aspects of physiotherapy treatment and care delivered to the service user.

  • To formulate individual management and treatment plans utilising clinical reasoning and a wide range of treatment skills.
  • To review, monitor and evaluate clinical interventions and alter as appropriate.
  • To have clinical responsibility for a designated case load of clients and to organise this effectively with regard to clinical priorities.
  • To demonstrate specialised skills in a range of therapeutic interventions.
  • To communicate effectively with clients and carers to maximize an individuals functional potential. Communication skills of explanation, motivation, negotiation and sensitivity will be used in a variety of situations.
  • To provide advice, teaching and education to clients, carers and other professionals to promote understanding of the aims of physiotherapy and to ensure a consistent approach to care.
  • To provide clinical supervision to junior physiotherapist, students on placement, and physiotherapy assistants if requested.
  • Carry out safe therapeutic and care moving and handling manoeuvres with clients. To advise on the moving and handling of individual clients in relation to physiotherapy interventions.

Organisational

  • To make clinical decisions autonomously within CSP code of practice guidelines. Participating in the development of physiotherapy quality standards, local clinical guidelines and adhere to the Companys policies and procedures.
  • Through regular individual and group clinical supervision communicate and discuss clinical work decisions.
  • To comply with organisational and multidisciplinary team policies and procedures and to be involved in reviewing and updating as appropriate.

Professional

  • To maintain own clinical professional development (CPD) by keeping abreast of new developments and incorporating evidence based practice into treatment.
  • To review, monitor and evaluate clinical interventions individually and with clinical lead physiotherapist to ensure quality provision and individual client needs are met.
  • To contribute to research and development and recommendations on clinical practice.
  • To be an active member of in-service training programme, attend and present at peer group meetings, training sessions, external courses etc. and to carry out reflective practice.
  • Demonstrate understanding of clinical governance and risk management.
