An exciting opportunity has arisen for a motivated and enthusiastic psychology graduate to support the delivery of our Learning Disability service provision in Pinetree Hospital and Ocean Community Services. This post is suitable for a psychology graduate who is keen to gain experience in order to progress towards applied training in clinical or forensic psychology.
The post is fixed term with the potential of rotation into other areas of the service to build additional experience with other service user groups in the future.
Main duties of the job
The role involves supporting the development and implementation of Positive Behaviour Support; conducting assessments; delivering individual and group based psychological intervention programmes; and promoting a culture of care in an environment that is focused on the use of psychological formulation and the principles of rehabilitation; person centred care and active support.
The role offers significant clinical experience in working with people with complex needs associated with Learning Disabilities, Autism; Challenging Behaviour and forensic presentations. The post will provide an excellent opportunity to gain experience in using psychological models including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy; Acceptance and Commitment Therapy; Narrative Therapy; Compassion Focused Therapy; Dyadic Developmental Psychotherapy; Dialectical Behaviour Therapy; and trauma focused interventions as part of a full Multi-Disciplinary Team, under the supervision of a Consultant Clinical Psychologist.

Pinetree Hospital is a specialist hospital, providing person-centred care for people over the age of 18, with learning disabilities, behaviours that challenge, and/or mental illness. We deliver intensive treatment, therapy and active rehabilitation within a safe and therapeutic environment.
Located close to Cardiff city centre, Pinetree Hospital offers accommodation split across single-gender units. We deliver individually tailored support based around models of care including Positive Behaviour Support, Active Support and Building Better Lives.
The service has established links with local universities. We host trainee clinical psychologists from the Cardiff D.Clin.Psy and also trainee forensic psychologists.
