Job summary

We have an exciting opportunity in our Llantrisant Dialysis Unit for an ambitious, patient focused Healthcare Assistant looking for a rewarding career in healthcare with opportunities for professional development.

This is a physically demanding role in a fast-paced environment.

Llantrisant Dialysis Unit is a dynamic 21 station unit providing haemodialysis treatment for 84 patients in partnership with the NHS Trust.

This position provides the successful candidate with an excellent opportunity to develop existing skills whilst gaining further experience.

Main duties of the job

  • To provide general assistance to nursing staff with patient care in the treatment room
  • To liaise with transport and other departments in order to arrange appointments
  • To support the unit routine, by escorting patients to the wards, blood specimens and pharmacy errands
  • To prepare and serve patients with refreshments
  • To prepare a safe water treatment supply
  • Preparation of the clinical area
  • To maintain stocks and supplies within the treatment areas
  • To undertake housekeeping duties

Hours of work

Full time role working 37.5 hours per week

3 x 11.5 hour shifts per week plus an additional top up shift every month

Long Day = 06:30 -18:00

Monday to Saturday on a rota'd shift system, No Sunday or night shifts

We expect staff to work flexibly and work shifts depending on the need of the business

Job description

Job responsibilities

To provide general assistance and support to the Dialysis team

To test the dialysis machines by switching them on in the morning to ensure in full working order

To test and confirm a safe unit water status pre dialysis (morning and afternoon)

To assist patients with weighing both pre and post dialysis

To assist patients to their seats ready for dialysis

To prepare and serve patients with refreshments

To assist patients out of the unit post dialysis

To prepare patient packs of dialysis consumables for the afternoon session/following day

To prepare the stores following daily delivery

To support the team with lining and priming of the dialysis machines throughout the day

To provide a safe and compliant disposal of clinical and general waste

To establish a suitable link role i.e. stores ordering or water analysis testing

To undertake mandatory training as required

To ensure reports from customers relating to product quality complaints or adverse drug reactions are documented and the essential minimum information is collected and forwarded to the Regulatory Affairs Department the same day they are received

To act in a professional manner at all times in order to promote a positive image of the Company

To adhere to B. Avitum Policies and Procedures, including the Quality Manual and Environmental, Health and Safety Guidelines at all times

To deal with any other duties which do not change the nature of this post
