Practice Development Nurse (PDN) - Join Our Renal Nursing Team!
Calling All Experienced Nurses Dedicated to Renal Care!
Location: North Region Clinics | Travel: Approx. 50-80%
Reports to: Nursing Director UK | Part time: 16 hours (2 days per week)
Salary | £48,000 - £52,000 pa pro rata (total compensation package)
Are you an experienced and dedicated dialysis nurse looking for a rewarding career in renal care? Diaverum, in partnership with the NHS, is thrilled to offer a fantastic opportunity for a PDN to join our UK team.
The Practice Development Nurse will spearhead the training and education programs in our dialysis units, providing support to nurses and staff to ensure the delivery of consistently high-quality clinical care.
Our team of PDNs and Clinical Leads report to the UK Nursing Director. This position is to be based in the North and you must be willing and able to travel across different sites in the region. When not travelling between sites you would be based out of a clinic allocated to you based on your home location.
This PDN role is part time, 2 days per week, so will allow for an internal applicant to remain in their current clinic nursing role if current standard working hours are more than 16 per week.
Your Responsibilities:
- Deliver and evaluate orientation and ongoing training programmes for new and existing staff, ensuring alignment with organisational and regulatory standards
- Facilitate completion of the Basic Dialysis Programme and maintain accurate training and competency records.
- Act as a clinical expert, providing specialist renal nursing knowledge and leading educational sessions for multidisciplinary teams
- Ensure staff are trained on new or updated clinical procedures, protocols, and critical care skills.
- Identify and address training needs, supporting staff development and compliance with local and national policies.
- Coordinate student nurse placements and liaise with external educational partners to support learning initiatives.
- Provide mentorship, guidance, and tailored development plans for staff, fostering a positive learning environment.
- Support and monitor compliance with policies, procedures, and best practice guidelines, addressing areas of non-compliance.
- Maintain comprehensive records of training, meetings, and assessments, and report on staff performance and training compliance.
- Promote effective communication, research awareness, and evidence-based practice within the renal units.
Requirements:
- NMC Registered General Nurse.
- Strong experience in a renal dialysis setting (4 years+).
- Awareness and understanding of the NMC code of professional conduct.
- In possession of a post-registration clinical course in Renal Nursing (ENB 136 or equivalent).
- Teaching qualification (ENB 998 or equivalent)
- Have a positive and dynamic approach to providing safe and effective care.
- Excellent communication, motivation and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent people management and leadership with experience in management support and staff development
- Valid drivers licence (Essential) to allow travel across sites.
