We are looking for nurses who have:
Effective communication skills to support and empower families and young people, and to work alongside partner agencies.
A flexible and reliable team player with the ability to prioritise and manage a busy workload and an approach suited to community working.
Current nursing or midwifery registration or a nursing or midwifery qualification
At least 1 years post registration experience and the ability to travel extensively across Waltham Forest and the surrounding areas to meet both the educational and clinical requirements of the course.
As this role is community based, it is desirable to be a car owner and driver.
On successful completion of the course, the post holder will be eligible to register with the Nursing and Midwifery Council as a Specialist Community Public Health Nurse (School Nurse) and you will be able to apply for band 6 SCPHN roles.
Main duties of the job
Health Visitors lead in the delivery of the Healthy Child Programme (0-5) delegating to and supervising the work of the skill mix team, while also working in partnership with local service providers to develop and support services to children and families within the local community.
This is a development role where the sponsored SCPHN student will be building on existing knowledge, skills, and competencies to achieve a higher level of practice resulting in an academic qualification as well as acquiring clinical skills required to practice as a NMC registered Specialist Community Public Health Nurse on a defined pathway.
