Job summary
The GP Care Group seeks an experienced and motivated Deputy Medical Director to provide expert clinical leadership and governance across our Integrated Urgent Primary Care services, including the Urgent Treatment Centre, Out of Hours and Same Day Access Hub.
This role attracts a market premia payment of £10,000 per annum and is subject to review every 2 years.
This is an exciting opportunity to make a significant impact on urgent care services by ensuring high standards of patient care, clinical safety, and operational efficiency. The role requires a dynamic leader who will work closely with multi-disciplinary teams, service managers, and external stakeholders to improve service delivery and promote best practices.
The Deputy Medical Director will be expected to work on site at least 3 days in UTC and available for meetings with partners/stakeholders.
We're Looking For
Essential Criteria:
- Full GMC registration with a License to Practice.
- Inclusion in the National Medical Performers List.
- Experience working in an urgent or acute primary care setting.
- Strong knowledge of clinical governance, NHS policies, and urgent care pathways.
- Excellent leadership, problem-solving, and communication skills.
Desirable Criteria:
- MRCGP, MRCP, or other postgraduate medical qualifications.
- Experience in clinical leadership roles within urgent or emergency care.
- Knowledge of the NEL and Tower Hamlets Urgent Care Strategy.

Main duties of the job
Key Responsibilities
- Clinical Leadership & Governance: Ensure safe and efficient medical care in accordance with national and local standards.
- Operational Service Development: Develop clinical pathways, monitor performance, and drive service improvements.
- Staff Recruitment & Development: Support and mentor clinical staff, ensuring effective training and induction.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborate with NHS Trusts, primary care providers, and local health services to enhance integrated patient care.
- Quality Improvement & Compliance: Lead clinical audits, incident investigations, and quality assurance initiatives to uphold high standards.
