GP with an Interest in Palliative Care Minehead Medical Centre
Location: Minehead Medical Centre and patient homes within the local community
Hours: 20 hours (full-time - 40 hours)
Minehead Medical Centre is seeking a compassionate and experienced General Practitioner (GP) with a special interest in palliative and end-of-life care.
Main duties of the job
Minehead Medical Centre has recently rated Good in all areas by the CQC in its first inspection under OneMedicare's leadership. After taking over the service in early 2024 following an Inadequate rating of the previous provider, the new team has made rapid and significant improvements, transforming patient care, access, and leadership.
We are a passionate, close-knit team committed to providing the highest standards of care in a way that truly meets the needs of our patients. The Medical Centre is a central hub in the town, and we are proud to reflect the welcoming and collaborative spirit of the wider Minehead community.
The GP with an interest in palliative care will provide high-quality, patient-centred primary care, delivering both generalist and specialist input for patients with advanced progressive illness and those approaching the end of life.
You will act as a clinical lead for palliative care within the practice, supporting anticipatory care planning, symptom management, and coordination of care across the community, care homes, and PCN services. You will work collaboratively with community nursing teams, specialist palliative care teams, hospices, secondary care colleagues, and social care providers.
