Minehead Medical Centre is looking for a Receptionist (also known as Patient Navigators) to join our friendly administrative team and play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of our surgery. You will not be overlooked. We know how important this role is in providing our patients with a safe and positive experience, while supporting our team to deliver the best care on a day-to-day basis.
Main duties of the job
You will be a confident communicator with a friendly, patient and welcoming nature, who is not put off by a fast paced and demanding environment.
Prior experience within a GP practice is desirable but not essential,

Job responsibilities
The job holderwill have to:
- Greet patients and visitors, advising them of their appointments and checking them in
- Answering telephone calls and managing patient inquiries with professionalism and empathy.
- Scheduling appointments and managing the appointment calendar effectively.
- Handling prescription requests from patients and pharmacies.
- Dealing with patient queries in person, over the phone, and via email.
- Handling and accurately recording incoming and outgoing correspondence, including letters and emails.
- Ensure the reception area is left tidy and ready for use by other colleagues, together with any hand-over information
- Complete the surgery administration, including registrations and deductions
Therefore, the successful candidate must:
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong organizational and time management abilities.
- Attention to detail and accuracy in handling patient information and administrative tasks.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and demanding environment.
- Desirably have prior experience as patient navigator
- Basic computer skills and familiarity with office software.
- Previous experience in a healthcare or administrative role is desirable but not essential

The patient list size is 12,330 with a slightly higher number of ageing population when compared to the rest of Somerset.In recent years, Minehead Medical Centre has undergone refurbishment works to provide additional clinical rooms on the ground floor.
