Minehead Medical Centre is looking for a highly motivated and enthusiastic Practice Nurse to join our team of professionals!
Note: This is a part-time job. The full-time equivalent for us is 40 hours per week.
Main duties of the job
The Practice Nurse will play an important role in the future of the service and will be part of a wider team, who can be agile, innovative, and future focused. The successful candidate must have experience of patients with a variety of long-term health conditions, be comfortable with change, able to work autonomously and keen to work in non-traditional care systems. A willingness to learn and develop their skills and undertake training relevant to their role is also essential, with an openness to support the wider nursing team.
About us
Minehead is a coastal town in Somerset, lying on the south bank of the Bristol Channel and within easy reach of Bristol, Taunton, and Yeovil. The town is surrounded by beautiful scenery, Exmoor national park, and some fantastic walks and cycle routes.
OneMedical Group joined Minehead Medical Centre in February 2024 and are supporting the team there to deliver excellent care to the patients and communities around Minehead. The Medical Centre is a central hub in the town, with a team there that are as close-knit as the rest of Minehead's population.

You will have a passion for supporting patients to be healthy by utilising your skills in health prevention, screening, and early management of long-term health conditions. You will strive to continuously deliver quality and safe services to a high standard. The post-holder will be expected to work collaboratively with the wider team to deliver excellent nursing care and to maximise Practice income such as QOF and enhanced service contracts.
Practice Nurse Core Responsibilities will involve:
- Venepuncture
- Blood pressure
- ECG
- Height/Weight/BMI
- Health Promotion
- Childhood and Adult Immunisations
- Wound Care
- Contraception
- Cervical Screening
- Spirometry
- Long-term condition management such as Diabetes, COPD, Asthma
- Some experience of long-term condition management and cervical screening is essential.
