Job summary

We are looking for an inspirational leader to join our team at Sheffield Walk-in Centre as Clinical Service Manager.

Main duties of the job

The Clinical Service Manager, will lead the team at Sheffield Walk-in Centre to ensure that the service is safe, efficient and effective operationally, providing the best outcomes for the patients that use the service. They will have high standards and expectations to ensure that the team is delivering high quality care to patients and clients, creating an environment where this can flourish. They will have a proven record of managing a team and a good understanding of finance and budget.

The Clinical Service Manager is expected to harness a working environment which encourages team work, energy and creativity. To achieve this, they will have strong leadership and excellent problem-solving skills, along with good communication and interpersonal skills. They will work with key stakeholders and external partners to ensure that the quality of the service and care that the service provides, is of excellent standard.

Sheffield Walk in Centre sees 77,500 patients annually through walk-in and those booked directly into the service through external system partners such as NHS 111. Job description

Job responsibilities

The Clinical Service Manager's time will be split (50% & 50%) between clinical sessions, whereby they will lead by example effectively treating patients, and clinical leadership and supervision sessions, where they will provide clinical guidance, leadership and support to their team, ensuring that the day-to-day clinical operations of the service run smoothly.

Hours: 40hrs per week, 5 days over 7.

The successful candidate will be expected to:

  • To lead the service, setting the example of what is expected from others at the service.
  • Provide quality leadership and support to the other key members of the team at the centre.
  • Aim for an outstanding and gold standard service by improving on what is in place and looking for new ways to develop the service.
  • Ensure that the service is operational at all times, delivering an effective, efficient and safe environment.
  • Monitor and support the Quality Lead, Service Coordinator and other leads to ensure that deadlines are being met in a timely manner.
  • Ensure that exemplary customer service is being delivered by all staff.
  • Deliver regulatory compliance and review any audit or inspection reports and recommendations, ensuring compliance with all statutory regulatory bodies and company policies and procedures, responding to and acting upon any recommendations from the CQC.

Therefore, you must have:

  • First level registered nurse (NMC), paramedic or pharmacist
  • Relevant Degree
  • Evidence of continued professional development.
  • Teaching qualification i.e., 998 or equivalent (Desirable)
  • Previous management experience
  • Evidence of leading a team
  • Good understanding of autonomous practice within a minor illness/Urgent Treatment centre and the roles that deliver this
  • Good understanding of adult and paediatric guidelines in minor illness and why we need to deliver this within the service.
  • Ability to manage and prioritise workload.
  • Proven ability to work as part of a team.
  • Demonstrate Enthusiasm and self-motivation
  • In-depth Knowledge of the CQC Key lines of Enquiry
  • Current knowledge of government targets and initiatives and N.I.C.E. guidelines and their impact on clinical practice.
  • Good understanding of pathways.
  • Computer literacy
