Job summary

This Charge Nurse role at The Farndon Unit, part of Elysium Healthcare, provides an exciting opportunity to lead and coordinate nursing care for women with complex mental health needs. Main duties of the job

As a Charge Nurse, you'll be responsible for overseeing and providing excellent care and support to women with complex mental health needs. You'll lead and coordinate the nursing team, ensuring the smooth day-to-day running of the unit. Key responsibilities include delegating tasks, monitoring service user conditions, supervising staff, and making critical decisions regarding staffing and resource allocation. You'll also act as a liaison between nursing staff and other healthcare professionals, promoting effective communication and collaboration.

What you will be doing:

With previous experience from the NHS or private care, you will oversee and provide high-quality care and support to women with complex Mental Health needs, while supporting your team and colleagues and promote good teamwork. As a Charge Nurse, you’ll lead and coordinate the quality and management of nursing care and delivering of clinical services, ensuring the day-to-day operations of your unit is performing well. You'll also;

  • Delegate nursing tasks to Nurses working in the unit and coordinate with other teams
  • Monitor service users’ conditions and respond to changes
  • Supervise other members within the team's unit and provide guidance and support 
  • Make critical decisions regarding service user assignments, staff scheduling, and resource allocation
  • Be liaison between nursing staff and other healthcare professionals, with effective communication and collaboration

  • NMC registration (RMN or RNLD)

You will be working at the Farndon Unit, a purpose-built low secure hospital that offers personalised assessment and recovery-based treatment pathways, including a trauma-specific pathway, for women with complex care needs.

You will join the multidisciplinary team in providing specialist care for people with a diagnosis of severe and enduring mental illness and/or personality disorder and/or mild learning disability. 

The combination of general low secure wards and a recovery ward area (also within the low secure perimeter) provide a seamless internal care pathway supporting and empowering recovery and rehabilitation.
