Are you an experienced Payroll Manager who has worked in a payroll department serving a multi-site company where you are familiar with managing deadlines and working on multiple pay rolls at the same time? If so, join Elysium Healthcare as a Payroll Manager.
As the Payroll Manager, you will be responsible for ensuring all employees are paid accurately and on time while maintaining compliance with relevant UK legislation and company policies. You will oversee the end-to-end payroll process, ensuring accurate and timely submission of statutory payments and filings to authorities like HMRC and other third parties. Alongside managing and developing the payroll team.
This role plays a critical part in maintaining financial integrity, employee trust, and compliance, while supporting the Head of Payroll drive continuous improvement and system efficiencies across the payroll function.
As a Payroll Manager, you will be:
- Taking responsibility for all payroll services ensuring processes are adhered to with weekly and monthly deadlines being achieved.
- Leading on monthly payroll audit reporting and ensure robust internal controls and compliance are maintained.
- Overseeing calculations for salaries, overtime, bonuses, deductions, pensions and stator payments (SSP, SMP, SPP etc.).
- Ensuring compliance with PAYE, NIC and RTI submissions, by providing accurate reconciliations, submissions, and payments to HMRC and other statutory bodies.
- Supervising and supporting payroll team members, providing training, guidance and performance management, carrying out regular one-to-ones, providing feedback, and supporting career development.
- Motivating the payroll team to deliver an excellent service and continuous improvement.
- Allocating tasks, set deadlines and monitor quality of outputs.
- Acting as the payroll subject-matter expert across the business, providing guidance and advice to managers, Finance, and People teams on payroll policies, processes, and compliance matters.
To be successful as a Payroll Manager, you’ll need:
- Proven experience managing end-to-end payroll operations in a large, multi-sited organisation
- Experience in managing payrolls in the healthcare sector
- Experience in managing and motivating a payroll team, including training, 1-2-1, and supporting career development
- CIPP qualification, or equivalent, or relevant experience
- Strong knowledge of UK payroll legislation, tax regulations and statutory compliance, including National Minimum Wage
- Proficiency in payroll software (HRIS systems), e.g. Workday, Unit 4, iTrent or equivalent
- Knowledge of Unit 4 (D)
- Advance excel and data analysis skills, for reporting and reconciliations
- Excellent attention to detail, numeracy and problem-solving skills
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills to liaise effectively with staff at all levels
- Ability to handle confidential information with discretion and integrity
- Strong time management skills, with the ability set priorities and meet strict deadlines
- Understanding of GDPR/data protection, in relation to payroll
