Job summary

The role of a DBT Specialist Practitioner at Wellesley Hospital involves supporting the consistent and effective delivery of the therapeutic programme, contributing to the operational and clinical effectiveness of the hospital's psychology department. The successful candidate will be responsible for conducting individual therapy sessions, preparing and delivering group work, creating psychological formulations, and identifying potential service improvements.

Main duties of the job

As a DBT Specialist Practitioner, you will be supporting patients in creating and updating their Behavioural Incentive Pathway, carrying out coaching and DBT awareness enhancement, providing written details of client progress, attending meetings, assessing referred patients, and supporting adherence to the DBT model. You will also be expected to enable and encourage others to suggest change, challenge tradition, and share good practice, as well as provide supervision and mentoring to less experienced therapists and Therapy Care Assistants.

Job responsibilities

Are you an experienced DBT Therapist with full knowledge of working with all five functions of an intensive DBT model? If so, join Wellesley Hospital as the DBT Specialist Practitioner, supporting the consistent and effective delivery of the therapeutic programme running at Wellesley Hospital.

You will be playing a key part in supporting the psychology department in developing and delivering the hospital strategy on treating Personality Disorder, contributing to the operational and clinical effectiveness of nursing and allied professional teams.

As a DBT Specialist Practitioner, you will be conducting weekly individual therapy sessions with service users, preparing and delivering group work, creating and updating a DBT focused Psychological Formulation for each service user, identifying and evaluating potential improvements in the service and supporting implantation of planned improvements.

As a DBT Specialist Practitioner, you will be:

  • Experience of working within a similar role for 2 years
  • Experience of leading, implementing and reviewing DBT initiatives in a related environment
  • 5 years post registration experience
  • Experience in DBT
  • Leadership and Management Skills

Location: Westpark 26, Chelston, Wellington, Somerset, TA21 9FF

You will be working at Wellesley Hospital, a purpose built 101 bed hospital in Wellington (Somerset) for men and women with mental health needs.

There are 6 wards for people with mental health needs and 1 ward for people with Learning Disabilities and Autism.

The Wellesley Hospital built in 2017 works alongside Devon Partnership NHS Trust, Avon and Wiltshire Foundation Trust, Cornwall Foundation Trust, 2gether Foundation Trust,  and Livewell to deliver the best possible environment for patients with mental health issues.
