Job summary

The Hospital Director role is an excellent opportunity for an experienced healthcare professional to lead and manage clinical and administrative teams, ensuring excellent care is delivered and maintained, and that quality and financial targets are met. The successful candidate will have a strong background in leading high-performing teams and will be responsible for the overall leadership and management of the service, developing close working relationships with the experienced and established teams, and other external stakeholders.

Main duties of the job

As the Hospital Director, you will be responsible for facilitating the development of quality healthcare services, ensuring they respond to the changing needs of purchasers and patients, and reflect market trends and evidence-based practice. You will be required to ensure both quality and financial targets are met, lead the senior management team on site, develop local strategy, and promote and enhance the hospital's reputation for specialist care and service. The role also includes on-call duties and engagement with Provider Collaboratives.

If you are an experienced Hospital Director or senior clinician with a strong background in leading high performing teams, looking for a new opportunity to put your mark on an established low secure, Level 2 rehabilitation and acute inpatient unit, then apply to join the team at The Farndon Unit

You will be leading and managing clinical and administrative teams, ensuring excellent care is delivered and maintained, and ensuring quality and financial targets are met.

As the Hospital Director at The Farndon Unit, you will have overall leadership and management of the service, developing close working relationships with the experienced and established teams, and other external stakeholders and be responsible for the delivery of excellent care and operational performance, whilst continuing to develop commercial opportunities with purchasers and referrers.

As a Hospital Director, your responsibilities will include:

  • Facilitating the development of quality healthcare services, ensuring that they respond to the changing needs of purchasers and patients, and also reflect market trends and evidence-based practice.
  • Ensuring both quality and financial targets are met.
  • Leading the senior management team on site, developing local strategy of the service, ensuring adherence to the service’s objectives, quality improvement and business plans.
  • Promoting and enhancing the hospital’s reputation for specialist care and service.
  • Fulfilling the role of Hospital Director as per CQC expectations.
  • Engagement with Provider Collaboratives.
  • On call duties.

To be successful as Hospital Director, you will:

  • Relevant Nursing Qualification.
  • Have an excellent track record in a management role within the healthcare sector.
  • A clinical background.
  • An excellent track record in a management role within the healthcare sector (essential).
  • An emphasis on performance and delivery in order to support successful service delivery and development, budget control, business development and revenue generation.
  • A credible, inclusive and supportive management style balanced with strong leadership and sound underpinning knowledge to provide direction and implement change.
  • Knowledge of clinical and non-clinical operational activities within a health sector organisation.
  • Working knowledge of the NHS and Independent Healthcare sectors.
