Job summary

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced and qualified Social Worker to join the team at The Farndon Unit in Newark. You will play a crucial role in supporting women with severe and enduring mental illness, personality disorder, and/or mild learning disability, ensuring positive outcomes through their care pathway.

Main duties of the job

As a Social Worker, you will be responsible for a complex caseload, managing various social care assessments. You will build positive and professional working relationships, focusing on personalization and recovery to facilitate positive, self-directed change. This may include family-focused work to support and optimize involvement and collaborative solutions. You will also be expected to provide guidance and support to your team members, with your main role being within the Acute wards, but also requiring oversight of other service areas.

Join the team at The Farndon Unit in Newark and play crucial part in supporting women with severe and enduring mental illness and/or personality disorder and/or mild learning disability, ensuring positive outcomes through their care pathway.

As a Social Worker from either the NHS or private care with experience of managing a complex caseload and being responsible for various social care assessments, you will build positive and professional working relationships, whilst focusing on personalisation and recovery to make positive, self-directed change. This can include family-focused work to support and optimise involvement and collaborative solutions.

As a member of the team, you must be confident and able to support and provide guidance to your team members, as your main role will be within the Acute wards but will also require you to have oversight of the other service areas.

Your Responsibilities as a Social Worker will include but not be limited to:

  • Facilitating access to welfare rights, housing, advocacy services and associated support services
  • Participation in and Provision of 1:1 supervision
  • Reporting to safeguarding agencies and regulatory bodies
  • Attending Safeguarding meetings with Local Authorities
  • Educating hospital staff about relevant safeguarding matters.

To be successful in this role you will need:

  • A Social Work Degree  
  • Post ASYE
  • At least 12 months UK direct Social Work experience
  • Current registration with Social Work England.
  • Experience within mental health in-patient settings including, Acute services, PICU, High Dependency and Secure Forensic .
  • Strong knowledge of relevant MH legislation
  • Sound Knowledge of MAPPA
  • Strong knowledge of the process of MP, MHRT, CPA and associated reports
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong assessment and care planning abilities
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative MDT.
  • Excellent understanding of Safeguarding requirements and duty to refer to external agencies.
  • Driver's License (full UK) with access to a Vehicle-Willing to undertake home risk assessments
