Working
as a Technician with OSR Medical Ambulance Service will give you a sense of
satisfaction that is found in very few other jobs. Every day is different, yet
rewarding, and youll be giving something back to the community.
You
will be responding to 999 calls, working with a crewmate, in Manchester from
our York or Bolton base. You will assess and treat a wide range of patients. Working on
emergency and urgent care shifts, you could be resuscitating a patient whose
heart has stopped one minute, then next youll be chatting to an elderly person
who has fallen in their home or supporting someone in a mental health crisis.
At
every call, people will put their trust in you and your clinical skills. You
will make key decisions on the treatment they needand whether they should be treated
at home, go to hospital, or taken to a walk-in centre or minor injuries unit,
with support from a clinical hub.
Main duties of the job
Due to our continued and sustained growth we seek to recruit Ambulance Technicians.
Working in partnership with the NHS, we take pride in the services offered by our highly skilled Technicians .
EMT's work as part of an emergency team alongside Paramedics and others, responding to emergency calls. They treat patients and help choose the appropriate care pathway for further treatment.
Your base would depend on where you live. If you live in the Greater Manchester area, your base will be in Bolton, however if you live outside the GM area, your base would be at our York site with a 2 or 3 night stay over in Manchester.
You would work shifts including evenings, nights weekends and public holidays. The work can be physically demanding, so you should have a good level of fitness.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
- To drive OSR Medical vehicles under emergency and normal driving conditions.
- Undertake a dynamic risk assessment on arrival at the scene of an incident.
- Ensure that all patient report forms both electronic and paper-based are completed.
- Ensure the safe transfer of patients utilising appropriate equipment, training, and agreed ways of working.
- Communicate with patients, relatives, colleagues, members of other emergency services, the public and other healthcare professionals
- To carry out relevant vehicle and equipment checks ensuring that the vehicle is fit for use, with faults or omissions reported.
- To maintain timely communications with EOC and management.

Technician with us, you can work as the clinical lead of an urgent/emergency
care double crewed Ambulance responsible for assessment, care, treatment, and
transport of patients and their carers/relatives in emergency and non-emergency
situations, whilst adhering to the operational procedures and directives of OSR
Medical Ambulance Service and our NHS Trust clients.
We are looking for people who can
demonstrate our values of Customers, Staff and Standards in all that they do.
So, if you clearly demonstrate that you meet the essential criteria, then we
will invite you to an assessment day. This will include checks of your
application paperwork, an interview, and a driving assessment in a large,
manual, van-sized vehicle. We will need to see your driving licence before we
can take you out for the driving assessment and you must have C1 to
undertake this assessment.
Driving is an essential skill for
this role, so you will need a full C1 or C1 provisional category manual driving
licence at the point of application with no more than 6 penalty points, with at
least 12 months experience of driving ambulance sized vehicles. If a
provisional is held, the applicant must pass their C1 test before their start
date. You will also need to have or working towards a nationally recognised
blue light qualification.
