An opportunityhas arisen for an experienced Medical Secretary for a bank position in our Histopathology Department at Northwick Park Hospital.

Main duties of the job

About the role:

Applications are invited from experienced Medical secretaries to join our energetic, highly motivated, dynamic & passionate team. We are looking for someone with excellent typing & communication skills and able to work with other team members. The successfulcandidate is expected to have some previous experience as Medical secretary.

We provide Cellular Pathology services toLondon North West University Healthcare NHS Trust (one of the largest integrated NHS Trusts in the country).

To undertake the delivery of secretarial services to the Pathology Department as determined by the Pathology Manager. The Services include:

Typing of the Histology and Cytology reports.

Filing of all Histology and Cytology reports making copies of all cancer reports to send to Thames

Cancer Registry.

Provide necessary support and assistance to MDT Co-ordinator.

Delivery of all completed pathology reports to the Medical Secretaries.

Book sample requests into the computer.

Entering faxed results into the computer

General office duties, answering the telephone, filing etc.

  • AMPSAR medical terminology (or equivalent) would be advantageous

Experience

  • Experience of working within the healthcare field (preferably experiencing working in a QA / regulatory environment)

Skills and Abilities

  • Good audio and copy typing skills essential.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to work on own initiative and as part of a team.
  • Numerate.
  • Highly skilled in use of Microsoft Office.
  • Experience of utilising statistical analysis software.
  • Able to take minutes and write reports.
