Job summary
To assess and evaluate individuals psychological difficulties using case histories, interviews, observations, and psychological testing. The role involves providing individual and group counselling services to support individuals in achieving improved personal, social, educational, and vocational development and adjustment.
Main duties of the job
Provide counselling to individuals, groups, or families to help them understand their problems, define goals, and develop realistic action plans.

Gather information about clients through interviews, case histories, observational techniques, and other assessment methods.

Develop therapeutic and treatment plans based on clients interests, abilities, and needs.

Consult with other professionals to discuss therapies, treatment options, counselling resources, and relevant occupational information.

Analyse information such as interview notes, psychological test results, and reference materials to identify symptoms and diagnose the nature of clients problems.

Advise clients on appropriate counselling approaches and support options.

Evaluate the outcomes of counselling interventions to assess their effectiveness and reliability.

Select, administer, and interpret psychological tests to assess intelligence, aptitude, abilities, and interests.

Provide consultancy services to schools, social service agencies, and businesses when required.

Refer clients to specialists or other institutions where non-counselling treatments are necessary.

Conduct research to develop or improve diagnostic tools and therapeutic counselling techniques.

Undertake structured interviews, psychological assessments (including complex psychometric tests), and behavioural observations of individuals and groups.

Assist in the development of psychological formulations of clinical problems.
