Main duties of the job
Our large multidisciplinary team is comprised of a Consultant Clinical Neuropsychologist, Clinical Neuropsychologist, Consultant Neuropsychiatrist, Speech and Language Therapist, Physiotherapist, Occupational Therapist and Assistant Psychologists, assisted by Therapy Technicians, Therapy Assistants and Activities Coordinators to enable our residents to maximise their social, emotional, functional and cognitive experience each day.

This post will provide an exciting opportunity to gain a range of experience in our flagship centre in Peterborough. We specialise in supporting adults with a range of neurological conditions including Early Onset Dementia, Huntingtons disease, Parkinsons disease, Korsakoffs syndrome, functional neurological disorders, and acquired neurological problems including traumatic brain injury, stroke, hypoxia and spinal injuries. Residents can be short, medium or long-term and we have a neurorehabilitation unit within our Peterborough site.

The role will include involvement in multi-disciplinary team meetings, providing neuropsychological assessment, formulation and interventions, meeting face to face with residents to provide a range of treatments, working with mental health issues such as anxiety, depression, adjustment, insight and awareness work. Cognitive skills and compensatory skills are also areas we support. Development and implementation of behavioural approaches are other areas we work with. Working closely and often jointly with the rest of the multi-disciplinary team is also a feature of the role. Report writing and attendance at care reviews will be needed. Supervision of Assistant Psychologists may be required, depending on experience.
The successful candidate will work alongside the Consultant Clinical Neuropsychologist and Clinical Neuropsychologist who will provide direct clinical supervision. Experience of working with adults living with dementia or other neurological conditions is required. The role requires having knowledge of safeguarding procedures and of carrying out assessments under the Mental Capacity Act and being involved in Best Interest meetings and decision making.
We work closely with various national support organisations and the opportunity to be involved in presenting at seminars and conferences will be available. Research is also an important aspect to the service and we are currently partnering with exciting research organisations and involvement with this will therefore be possible.
