An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Lead Scrub Practitioner with a strong background in orthopaedics and spinal surgery to join The Portland Hospital, part of HCA Healthcare UK. This role is ideal for a confident, clinically skilled practitioner who is ready to lead from the front and set the standard in perioperative care within these specialist areas.

Main duties of the job
As Lead Scrub Practitioner, you will provide clinical leadership, guiding your team to deliver and evaluate high quality care for patients undergoing orthopaedic and spinal procedures. You will ensure intraoperative safety standards are met while fostering excellence, teamwork, and continuous improvement. As a role model, you will bring specialist ortho spine knowledge and support colleagues through mentoring and skills development. In this role, you will help shape theatre standards and culture, working closely with surgeons, anaesthetists, ODPs, and MDT colleagues to ensure seamless coordination throughout the surgical pathway. Your ability to anticipate clinical needs, stay organised, and support others in high pressure situations will be key to delivering exceptional outcomes. You will also contribute to service development, refining processes, introducing best practice initiatives, and supporting continuous quality improvement.
