  • The Senior Staff Nurseis responsible forthe assessment of care needs of patients, planning programmes of care,implementationand evaluation of these programmes without direct supervision.

  • They are expected to;

  • take charge of the ward and supervise junior members of staff

  • provideclinical guidance to colleagues in disease identification and management, and relevant interventions for the clinical speciality

  • work independently/autonomously without direct supervision and are accountable for their own actions

  • take onadditionalresponsibility, such as a link nurse role

  • They ensure the safety and wellbeing of patients and always work in a manner that promotes dignity and respect through the adoption of person-centred care principles.

Clinical Responsibilities

  • Carries out a full range of registered nurse duties, including assessment, planning,implementationand evaluation of the patients condition. Maintain the privacy and dignity of all patients whilst adhering tohospitaland department policies, reporting any difficulties you have not been able to solve to Ward Manager

  • Maintains a safe environment when caring for patients, including those patientsrequiringfrequent levels of monitoring
