Job summary

Yorkshire Health Network (YHN) is looking for an experienced General Practitioner to work 12 hours a week for our Enhanced Access Service.

The role will be based at our Leon Smallwood Unit at Ripon Community Hospital working Wednesday and Friday, 18:00pm - 20:00 and Saturday, 08:30am - 17:00pm.

Additional hours may be available at our other sites at Beech House Surgery in Knaresborough and Priority House, Grove Park Court in Harrogate.

Main duties of the job

The General Practitioner will provide comprehensive, high-quality primary medical care to patients registered at one of the practices within the Federation.

The General Practitioner is responsible for ensuring that they are clinically safe and works as part of a multi-disciplinary team during the hours that the service is operational. They will be required to provide support and advice to other clinical and non-clinical colleagues as required and to work with the Operational Managers and Clinical Lead on the delivery of the service, escalating issues as required.

Job responsibilities

  • Consultations, either face-to-face or via telephone, with patients.
  • Make professional, autonomous decisions in relation to presenting problems.
  • Assess the health care needs of patients with undifferentiated and undiagnosed problems.
  • To record clear and contemporaneous consultation notes to agreed standards using clinical systems and tasking appropriately to practices for follow up.
  • Provide support and clinical advice to other members of the multi-disciplinary team.
  • Request investigations as required.
  • Providing health education.
  • Collect data for audit purposes and complying with QOF requirements.
  • Compile and issue computer-generated acute prescriptions.
  • To work within the prescribing formulary.
  • To be responsible for personal time management.
  • Work effectively within a multidisciplinary team and the management team to maximise effective and efficient delivery of care to patients.
  • To promote close teamwork between colleagues and continually strive to improve the service.
  • To regularly update clinical skills and knowledge.
  • Maintain professional registration and licence to practice.
  • Ensure care environment is clean and tidy at all times and that IPC requirements are met. This includes (but is not limited to) being responsible for completing the room cleaning audit sheet at the end of a session and ensuring clinical waste is emptied and taken to the outside bin.
