Job summary

Yorkshire Health Network (YHN) is looking for a Travel Vaccination Nurse to work 10 to 16 hours a week. This is an exciting opportunity to join a team of dedicated professionals who promote shared working and collaboration to support the sustainability of primary care for local people.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will be a registered nurse with additional training in travel health and will provide specialist advice and vaccinations to individuals planning to travel abroad. The role focuses on preventing travel-related illnesses and promoting safe travel practices from two of our sites at 5 Grove Park Court in Harrogate and the Leon Smallwood Unit at Ripon Hospital.

Job description

Job responsibilities

  • Responsible for delivering a comprehensive pre-travel risk assessment for clients
  • Educate and advise clients on appropriate vaccinations and malaria chemoprophylaxis taking in to account individual risk, contraindications, side effects and cost
  • Undertake pre appointment telephone consultations with clients
  • Administer appropriate vaccinations with appropriate technique and schedule
  • Work with colleagues to manage stock levels and order as appropriate vaccination supplies
  • Make appropriate clinical notes using SystmOne
  • Be aware of own knowledge and able escalate any concerns to clinical colleagues for support regarding either patient care or vaccination questions
