Job description

Job responsibilities

The purpose of this role is to design and deliver a programme to support and develop innovation in health and social care. The innovation business partner will be based in the HNY IRIS (Innovation Research and Improvement System) team with a particular focus on partnership working with the Yorkshire and Humber (Y&H) AHSN (Academic Health Science Network).

IRIS represents a collaborative approach to innovation, research and improvement in the new ecosystem of an integrated care system (ICS). IRIS will bring together existing and emerging activities across the ICS to maximise our assets and connect stakeholder organisations across the system. We will work with our partners to support and grow an exemplar system which enables and facilitates research, innovation and improvement.

To achieve this, we need to understand how these parts of the system are currently operating and move towards a more joined up and collaborative way of working. The first step towards achieving this will be establishing IRIS as a virtual hub for stakeholders and providing a single front door for research, innovation and improvement. In addition to establishing the system wide front door, IRIS has set out its priorities and grand challenges for 2023/24.

The ICS recognise the potential for our region to be an excellent partner to academic centres and innovators alike, to further our understanding and adoption of solutions that transform the way we deliver care and the way we tackle population health across our unique mix of rural, urban, coastal, and port communities.

The aim of the role will be to:

Support and foster a culture of innovation within the HNY integrated care system by signposting colleagues to opportunities to invent, test, adapt and improve new and existing innovations as part of a continuous improvement system way of working across the ICS.

Work alongside the IRIS clinical lead for innovation to increase awareness of the ICB and national NHS innovation strategy and the underpinning programmes of work within the ICS.

Foster a close partnership approach to innovation with the Y&H AHSN, to help ensure adoption and spread of the nationally mandated NHS innovation programme.

Pro-actively engage with stakeholders and partners across the ICS and work as part of the core IRIS team to identify barriers to innovation and to help address them to enable the development and implementation of innovation programmes at place and local care partnership level.

Key Relationships

The post holder will have key relationships with the following teams, departments and organisations:

HNY ICB

Primary care networks (PCNs)

Represent HNY ICB at internal and external events and meetings, always upholding the values and behaviours of HNY ICB.

Develop strong and supportive working relationships with colleagues within HNY ICB and across the partnership.

Be able to present clear and comprehensive updates, reports and information in a variety of methods.

Exercise tact, diplomacy and persuasive skills in the course of communication.
