Are you passionate about protecting patients, driving high standards of care and influencing real change? Were looking for an enthusiastic and experienced IPC Nurse to take the lead in delivering our hospitals Infection Prevention & Control programme.
In this pivotal role, you will use your expertise to identify infection risks, shape policy, drive improvement, and ensure our hospital remains safe for patients, staff and visitors.
Main duties of the job
As our IPC Nurse, you will:
- Lead the development and delivery of the hospitals IPC programme
- Provide expert clinical advice, guiding teams and influencing best practice
- Work closely with the Clinical Governance Lead and DIPC to deliver the annual IPC work plan
- Ensure robust departmental IPC risk assessments are completed and reviewed
- Keep IPC policies current and aligned with national guidance
- Manage and investigate IPC-related incidents, sharing learning and driving improvements
- Support and coordinate IPC link nurses to strengthen surveillance, audit and training activities
- Champion a culture of safety and high-quality patient care
You will be a Registered Nurse with relevant post-registration IPC experience/qualification
What you will bring:
- Be educated to degree level, with teaching/mentoring experience
- Strong influencing, negotiation and communication skills
- Confidence in managing complex situations and interpreting microbiology results
- Excellent IT skills (Datix, Microsoft Office)
- Highly organised, methodical and able to manage competing priorities
- A patient-centred approach and the ability to present information clearly across different formats
