Job summary

We are currently recruiting for a registered nurse to join our fantastic Inpatients department. Within the service(s), the Senior Staff Nurse (SSN) will be a member of the team, working within their scope of practice at all times under the direction of the Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) and Consultant Surgeon(s) to provide care and support to patients undergoing outpatient and inpatient consultations and surgery.

Main duties of the job

  • Be a positive role model for the service and to staff, and will be a patient advocate, ensuring a positive patient experience.
  • Provide sound knowledge and support, including planning and delivering patient care and supporting treatment and aftercare as required by the role.
  • Work within a governance framework and adhere to national/local regulatory requirements and clinical and professional standards.
  • Maintain own clinical competency, ensuring evidence of continued learning and development relevant to the role.
  • Provide support and supervision to junior staff as may be required.
  • Report to the Clinical Nurse Specialist.

Essential

  • First level registered nurse with supporting evidence of CPD and revalidation.
  • Healthcare degree or equivalent
  • Enhanced knowledge of wound care/tissue viability- or willingness to undertake training.
  • Preoperative assessment experience- or willingness to undertake training.
  • Phlebotomy/ECG skills
  • ILS training
  • Mentorship qualification
  • Proven ability to undertake multiple tasks under pressure.
  • Excellent organisational planning and problem-solving skills, with a can-do attitude.
  • Methodical & pays attention to detail.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong patient centered approach.
  • Sound computer skills e.g., Microsoft office
  • Demonstrate honesty, integrity, and ethics.
  • Ability to work effectively within a team as well as be able to work autonomously.
  • Experience of audit- or willingness to undertake learning.
