Job summary
We are seeking for an Advanced Clinical Practitioner (ACP) who will provide high-quality, patient-centred assessment and diagnosis. The right candidate will also be able to treat and manage individuals who present with a wide range of injuries and illnesses within urgent and unscheduled care settings.
Working autonomously, the ACP will deliver safe and effective care within agreed local and national guidelines, drawing on advanced clinical reasoning and evidence-based practice. The role includes independent prescribing, complex decision-making, and holistic patient management across all age groups, from paediatrics to older adults.
Main duties of the job
The ACP will work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary urgent care team, contributing to service development, quality improvement, and clinical education.
Working Pattern and Rota Expectations
- The urgent care service operates 24/7, including weekends and bank holidays
- A minimum commitment of 24 hours per week is required
- Clinicians will work a varied rota, including days, evenings, nights, and weekends
- A minimum of one weekend per month is required
- Flexible shift patterns are essential to support safe service delivery
- Rota schedules are released 12 weeks in advance, supporting worklife balance and forward planning
Essential Qualifications
Registered Clinician with NMC/HCPC
Masters degree in advanced clinical or Nursing Practice (Equivalent or higher)
Minor Injuries and illness qualification
Independent prescriber
Essential Experience
5 years post registration experience of which 2 years will have been spent in primary care, ED, unscheduled care, or related field.
Experience managing both adult and paediatric presentations.
