Open Door Young People's Service is currently recruiting a Specialist Assistant Psychologist/Clinical Research Assistant to start in July 2024.
This is an exciting opportunity for an Assistant Psychologist - the role will consist of three
key elements and will allow the successful candidate to gain experience in all
the core elements of the service (research, clinical, data management and
admin). Open Door is looking for a highly capable and creative Assistant
Psychologist, with a solid understanding in quantitative research, data
management and excellent academic writing.

Main duties of the job
As part of the role, the
successful applicant will play an important part in the coordination of a
randomised control trial (RCT), clinical training development, and outcome
research. They will gain a combination of research and clinical experience and
will have the opportunity to co-author some of the papers produced within the
project. The project has included collaboration with leading research
institutions such as University College London and the Anna Freud Centre (AFC).
The role offers the opportunity of working closely with highly
specialist Clinical and Counselling Psychologist (including regular research
and clinical supervision) and with an experienced team of psychotherapists. There
will be opportunities for direct supervised clinical work using CBT as well as
opportunities to observe and be involved in psychological assessment.
The other aspect of the role will allow the successful applicant
to play a key role in an organisational transformation process. Open Door is
upgrading its IT, data and outcome monitoring systems.This aspect of the role would provide a unique in-depth knowledge
of CYP mental health services including those within the NHS - practices,
policies and standards and provide the successful applicant with the knowledge
of clinical triage, outcome research and data management.
Finally, the post will incorporate the role of clinical administrator with direct patient contact, providingvaluable
experience in preparation for clinical training.

Open
Door is an NHS commissioned voluntary sector service based in Haringey, North
London, providing a range of therapeutic services for young people aged 12-24
and parents. We form part of the Haringey CAMHS pathway for 12-18 year olds
and are a highly regarded clinical service. Open
Door offers treatment to adolescents and young adults on a brief, medium and
longer-term basis. Whilst most of our psychotherapists have undertaken
psychoanalytic based trainings, we also offer CBT, Mindfulness Based Therapy
and specialist trauma focussed therapies including EMDR. We are a highly skilled team and many of our clinicians
also teach on professional training courses.
We
offer services in Crouch End and Tottenham and on an outreach basis in
secondary schools, and online. Most of our work is delivered face to
face. Demand for the service is high and we are always looking at ways to
help more young people.Each year 800+ young people and parents/carers are offered in the
region of 8,000 appointments.
Open Door is commissioned by the local NHS Integrated Care Board (ICB)
and is one of the key providers of adolescent mental health treatment in
Haringey. Open Door works closely with NHS CAMHS providers and is part of the
single point of access. Other funding comes from Charitable Trusts including the
National Lottery and BBC Children in Need.
