Heath Lodge Clinic is an Independent Imaging Centre in Knowle, Solihull, West Midlands, which aims to provide a caring and supportive workplace to all employees.
We are looking to appoint an experienced Superintendent Radiographer to lead a team of MR Radiographers and oversee the modalities of Dexa, Ultrasound and X-Ray.
Main duties of the job
As Superintendent Radiographer you will be responsible for providing first point of management and clinical leadership to our team of Radiographers, in accordance with local rules, company policies and governance procedures.
In addition to your supervisory duties, you will work clinically as a Radiographer and complete MR procedures, coaching and training other members of staff as required.
You will maintain and continually develop an efficient, safe and quality imaging service, optimising patient care.

Our clinical service provision includes an MR unit comprising two 3T scanners, and an additional 1.5T Siemens Espree scanner, which is particularly suited to the needs of claustrophobic patients.
We also provide X-Ray, Dexa, Ultrasound and Fluoroscopy, as part of our Pain Management service.
The clinic is well recognised for our patient centric approach, and any successful candidate must have excellent communication skills and demonstrate an empathetic approach when dealing with our patients. We also pride ourselves on being able to support many severely claustrophobic patients who have completed their MR scans with us when they have been unable to do so elsewhere.
The role is full time, and the ideal candidate will need to be flexible with when they work. The clinic operates Monday to Friday, from 8am to 6.30pm with a late night until 8pm on a Wednesday. There is no routine On Call or out of hours service, although there may also be some occasional evening or Saturday working required

- Supervising and managing a team of radiographers undertaking modality specific imaging procedures
- Undertaking MR scans in line with existing modality specific clinical guidelines, policies and protocols
- To actively engage in service development in conjunction with the Clinical Director
- To act as a mentor the radiographers where needed to ensure efficiency and smooth running of lists.
- Conducting competency assessments at regular intervals, ensuring any development needs are identified and followed up
- Active involvement in the recruitment, appointment and induction of new clinical staff
- Involvement with rotas and ensuring staffing cover for clinical staff where required
- Ensuring good communication is maintained within the team and between the department and the rest of the clinic, to deliver a smooth-running service
- Dealing with day-to-day staff queries, liaising with appropriate support functions as necessary including the Senior Leadership team, HR and finance.
- Taking ownership of governance activities i.e. audits, personal development, and team meetings with the support of your colleagues.
- Performance management of the team including appraisals.
- To ensure that the unit is organised and well-presented and reflects the expectations of our service users
