Heath
Lodge Clinic is an Independent Imaging Centre in Knowle, Solihull, West Midlands,
which aims to provide a caring and supportive workplace to all employees.
We
are looking to appoint an experienced MRI Radiographer to work alongside our
existing team who pride themselves on providing a patient centric service.The
role is full time, and the clinic operates Monday to Friday, from 8am, to
between a 6.30pm 8pm finish. There is also some occasional Saturday working
required.
Main duties of the job
Duties in the role will include performing a range of MSK, neuro and dynamic scans. You will follow the clinics policy and procedures in terms of MRI safety controls to protect patients, visitors and non-MRI staff. You will support our patients throughout their attendance at the clinic.
The
successful candidate must have a proven track record in MRI radiography,
demonstrate attention to detail and importantly for us, be a team player. You
must have a good understanding of different scanning techniques and sequences. Applicants
should also be competent in IV cannulation (ideally with SOR accreditation).

candidate must have excellent communication skills and demonstrate empathic
approach when dealing with our patients. We also pride ourselves on being able
to support many severely claustrophobic patients who have completed their MRI
scans with us when they have been unable to do so elsewhere.
Our
MRI unit comprises two state of the art 3T scanners, one recently installed in
April, in addition to a 1.5T Siemens Espree which will shortly be
decommissioned and replaced. We also provide cross sectional services which
include X-Ray, Ultrasound, DEXA, and Fluoroscopy, with a Pain Management
service for joint and spinal injections.

Purpose of the Role
The role of the MRI radiographer is to work as part of the HLC team to provide a professional, caring, high quality MRI scanning service to patients at Heath Lodge Clinic, (HLC).
Key Accountabilities
- To be responsible for MRI safety controls to protect patients, visitors, and non-MRI HLC staff entering the HLC MRI controlled environment.
- To undertake the mandatory MRI safety screening of patients, prior to their MRI examination, to assess their suitability to undergo an MRI imaging examination and to obtain their informed consent to proceed.
- To undertake the mandatory safety screening checks prior to a patient being administered contrast media and/or drugs specific to their MRI examination and to obtain their informed consent to proceed.
- To perform a range of general and specialised MRI examinations in compliance with the HLC MRI imaging protocols.
- To provide physical and emotional support to patients throughout their attendance. To report all safeguarding concerns in line with HLC procedures.
- To ensure the safe use of highly specialist imaging equipment and to adhere to all local MRI safety procedures. All equipment malfunctions or issues must be reported to a senior member of staff in line with HLC procedures.
- To dispense contrast media/drugs when authorised to do.
- To keep accurate records of all aspects of work in accordance with HCPC regulations and HLC policies and procedures.
- To participate in the HLC audit programme including but not exclusive to the imaging quality assurance tests, the daily operational safety checks, and the health & safety, and infection prevention control audits.
