As a nationally recognised, multi-award-winning residential centre for neurological and complex trauma rehabilitation, we welcome individuals aged 16 and over from across the UK and beyond.

Our work sets benchmarks in clinical excellence, innovation, and research in neurorehabilitation.

Main duties of the job

The Kitchen Assistant at STEPS provides support to our team of Chefs with cleaning and maintaining our high standards. They also provide high quality service to our clients, aligned with STEPS values and behaviours and working as a key member of the inter-disciplinary team.

Success in this role looks like supporting the smooth and efficient running of the kitchen each day. The Kitchen Assistant consistently follows food safety standards, keeps work areas clean and organised, and completes tasks promptly to support the wider team. They communicate clearly, stay calm during busy periods, and are proactive in helping wherever needed.

A successful Kitchen Assistant serves our clients, staff and visitors in a friendly, approachable manner, where nothing is ever too much trouble. They contribute to a positive kitchen environment and help ensure that meals are prepared and served to a high standard.

  • Experience of working in a commercial kitchen environment
  • Excellent organisational skills,
  • Ability to follow operational procedures and practices.
  • Clear awareness and understanding of excellent customers services
  • Excellent communicator both written and verbal / demonstrate excellent listening skills
  • Can work under pressure and use your own initiative
  • Able to form key working relationships with colleagues, understand the dynamics of team working
  • Ability to demonstrate an awareness of equality and diversity obligations when delivering care and also towards colleagues.

  • Previous experience in a Clinical Facility
